Quilt Update.

Here is an update of different patterns I've been working on for my quilt. The center for the big sunflower is going to take a LONG time but it will be worth it in the end.

Sunflower Quilt

I'm working on a quilt for my senior project class. I've chosen a painting that I have created myself and I am going to turn it into a quilt. It is a picture of sunflowers on a bright happy day with a blue butterfly sitting on a flower. It will be a long project but I plan on getting it done by May. Here are some pictures of the start of it. I thought I would make it a twin sized quilt and have lots of different patterns in it, so that every part of it is exciting to look at.

Meeting an Inspiration

Today I went to a children's book store for a booksigning and heard a talk from Chris Van Allsburg. His speech was inspiring and definitely motivated me to get my stuff done for the rest of the semester. He said that he is self taught and his advice to young artist's was to just keep going at it. Do what you want to do and do it all the time. He enjoys what he does and loves having control of what he draws, which is why he writes his own books as well.
