Crafty Shows

I've been pretty busy the last few days getting ready for a craft show. I did fairly well even though it was cold and windy. My wonderful husband helped make another display shelf that turned out perfect. I also made greeting cards which I have never tried to sell before. I questioned on doing it because I wasn't sure on how to price them. I charged double what I thought I should but that was still below average price for something like that. Turns out, people who do buy greeting cards are more than happy to pay for them. Once again I am reminded that I should not belittle my work. My prints are good, my painting style is great, and I should charge accordingly. I know this is not an uncommon problem with most artists.

Painting does make me happy.

For a few weeks, I've been a little worked up over switching jobs, interviewing and that sort of not so fun stuff. Dakota said a few nights ago, "You NEED to paint again, you're much happier when you paint."
I've always thought in the back of my mind that I paint because I am happy... maybe I've had it backwards all along.
Tonight's painting... let's just say I'm feeling pretty great right now, and my husband is pretty great too.

More Lettering

Still on a hand lettering kick. Today I decided to write down the names of all of my nieces and nephews. Practicing different letters and different versions of the same letter.Again, I look to Pinterest and Instagram for letter styles and techniques. I'm not the greatest but I am seeing improvement.

Sewing from Clothing

I've been working on these bears for a few weeks now and they are finally finished! These bears are made out of clothes from someone's loved one. I'm really please with how they turned out! If you have old clothes or clothes that mean a lot to you, you can always find a pattern to sew with them.

Hand lettering

Lately I've been wanting to expand my art but learning how to do more with hand lettering. At this point I am just looking through pinterest and instagram to find letter examples. It's also nice to just draw in a sketchbook.

More Wedding Signs

I'm so excited about how these signs are coming out! My parents had their barn redone on the outside so there are so many scrap pieces left over! I will definitely post more pictures of these signs once we have the wedding!

Wine Label Progress

Another post about the adventures of my parents starting a winery in Carlisle,  PA. During this time of year they are focused on the blackberries and grapes and making wine! Something they really need to start producing soon is a label for the wine bottles. Here is what I have created so far. It still needs work and each wine type will have the same basic boarder with the fruits around that made the wine. I'm liking it so far, digital illustration can be so cool!

Ballyhoo Baby Label

My friend Alyssa is starting her own small business helping future or new parents enter the world of parenthood! I created a few different designs. I went with a pun in the owl design, also making it more modern. Alyssa fell in love with the more vintage looking design showing off the two babies.

Wedding Favors

I'm proud of these little favors! They are altoids that I wrapped with wrapping paper found at Michaels Craft Store. The ribbon I found on amazon and it is actually a stretchy lace so it made tying bows super easy. And the hearts  I found on Amazon as well! They took about 10 days to get here but they were only $20 for 100 engraved hearts! I don't need that many of course, but it will be nice for photo albums or picture frames to have a few extra.

Yardzee

Holy Cow, how awesome did these turn out! I'm super proud of myself and my giant "yardzee" game I made. I took a 4x4 and had them cut into square pieces, thanks to my brother Lars for helping. Then I sanded each block to make sure they did not have any sharp edges. The wood burner I had actually came with a round tip! I was probably most excited about that part. With some staining and polyurethane, they look professional! The card itself is 11x17 and laminated for reuse with a dry erase marker.

RSVP Design

For anyone creating an RSVP for a party, I suggest doing something similar to what I did for my wedding. The answers I'm getting back are all so different and fun!
I can help design something for you if you are interested!

Spire

Here is a design mock up of a brochure that shows of typography and design skills. This is not a brochure that is actually used. It's just a way to showcase some work. The photos were pulled from google, and I used a really company.

Art Website

I finally sat down and created a website for myself. It is in the very beginning stage, but I am glad to have something up and running. I have never created a website before this, so it is definitely a learning experience! I wanted to have a website to bring all of my social media sites, The Imag(in)e Project and just my own artwork together. It is also nice to see what kind of work I need to add to my portfolio to keep it updated.

Flight Doodles

I am on my way to Albuquerque, New Mexico! During my flight I decided to pull out my sketchbook that is usually within arms reach of me. The Flight attendants were entertained every time they walked by when they saw my progress. For some reason, their compliments seemed to make my day. It always seems to be my instinct to draw trees with my fine point sharpie, which was fine since the ride was a little bumpy. Trees are very forgiving. Since I was going to New Mexico, feathers seemed to be another good choice to doodle.

First Craft Show

Here are some photos from my first craft show in Lewisburg, PA! I wasn't sure what to expect but I think it went well. The stand that is holding my small prints is made from an old pallet. I was able to do most of my printing at my part time job at The UPS store. I was very impressed by their scanner and print quality. I wasn't sure what to print, so I made some prints from sketchbook pages and I also made some prints from The Imag(in)e Project paintings. I handed out lots of business cards, so I am hoping that will generate some commissions.

Mary Portrait Commission 2

Here is another portrait commission for Mary. This one is of her two daughters. It is in progress but I am very happy with it so far! It is painted with Acrylic paint on a 12x16 canvas.
