Type with Pizza logo

Here are the 3 ideas I am down to for adding type to my design. I'm not sure which one will be picked yet but once it is selected I can make any small changes the customer wants, and then I can start on color. I have also been researching printers for them to see what their requirements and restrictions are for color.

Otter's Pizza Den Logo Sketch

My friend's family just bought a pizza shop and asked if I could come up with a logo idea for the place. There are two family names, "Arter, and "Ott". So they put them together and came up with "Otter's Pizza Den." They wanted something a little more illustrative than realistic, and they wanted to have pizza and subs in it too. So far this is what I have. The family really likes it so far and are excited to see what I come up with as far as text goes. After we settle on text layout, I will work on the colors. I have 2 colors to pick for printing so we will see how that goes.

Easter Bread

Here is a little idea of what my family Easter looks like. My mom always makes the braided bread that you can see. Since this year was the first that I spent with Caleb's family, I decided to make the same bread to share with his family. It was really nice to be able to spend it with both families this year.

Decorating Easter Eggs

Here is an egg that I have decorated for Easter. I used a Hungarian Easter Egg kit. When I was little I would just make lots of scribbles with the wax and keep dipping the egg in different dyes. This is probably my first one that I actually drew out the pattern, then patiently tried to follow the lines I drew.

Cowboy Line

I'm breaking out an old drawing from last year. Looking back at it now, I see where a lot of work is needed. I already added color to the line drawing, but now I will continue by adding shadows and maybe a little more textures on the dirt in the background. The reference is from a photo I took at the 2011 Farm Show during the rodeo. It was originally a children's book spread from an assignment in college. I want to revisit this project and make it better.

Crayon Melting, Peace Dove

Everyone who knows me knows that I am a big fan of crayons. I have done experimenting with them before with melting and wanted to give it another try. It's difficult because although I am the one holding the torch and crayon.... I can't control how each crayon melts or where it will land. I also cannot get perfect edges or lines. Up close things look rough and ridged. I think these kind of illustrations will be best scanned in to make prints or cards with.
I started with a pre-stretched canvas, and airbrushed a solid color onto it. That way if I didn't completely cover the canvas with crayon, the background color will show through. I also think that I would like bigger areas of color  in the background next time. I had to be careful toward the end that I didn't melt the crayons to much, before they made a grey color. I also will play around with text once it is scanned in. Maybe just the word "Peace" or something.
